Young guns can fire us up even more: McGrath
When Donegal collected just three points from a possible 14 in the Allianz League and took the plunge into Division Two, their prospects of winning the Ulster Championship looked slim.
But a preliminary round win over Cavan was followed by a quarter-final defeat of Donegal and a semi-final demolition of Down. Their stature was further enhanced when they brought Fermanagh to heel in the Ulster final and now they are ready to face Dublin in an All-Ireland quarter-final Group B Phase One clash on Saturday.
Defender Paddy McGrath is in no doubt as to just why his side have enjoyed such an unlikely renaissance.
"I put it down to the younger guys that Declan has brought into the side," insists McGrath.
"We have people like Jamie Brennan, Caolan Ward, Ciaran Thompson, Stephen McMenamin and Paul Brennan and others who have come through strongly.
"They have been driving the rest of us on and keeping us on our toes."
