McCann inspires Antrim in London tussle

Antrim 3-15 London 1-10: Antrim overcame a sluggish start to their Allianz National Football League 4 contest to claim the points on offer against London in Creggan thanks largely to an inspired performance from Tomás McCann.

London rallied into a 0-03 to 0-0 lead with 10 minutes of the first half played and thoroughly outplaying the Antrim men. However, three pointed Brian Neeson free's and a deflected goal from McCann gave Antrim the lead for the first time. The Saffrons led by 1-05 to 0-07 at the interval.

London's Michael Walsh gave his side a glimmer of hope with a punched effort beyond Hanna in the Antrim net, but Sean McVeigh and Niall McKeever had begun to gain control of proceedings.

McCann's sheer determination for his second goal epitomised his overall performance, as not once but twice he was denied by some last-gasp London defending before finally lashing the ball home while lying on the Creggan pitch.

By the time Neeson punched Antrim's third goal, they were already in cruise control with McKeever kicking two scores.

Micky Pollock continued his fine form as he, Mark Sweeney and substitute Anton Taylor emphasised Antrim's superiority as they ran out comfortable winners.
