Armagh's incredible season is over in the cruellest of fashions as they lost to Galway on penalties in their All-Ireland SFC quarter-final at Croke Park.

Armagh scored twice in second half injury-time to tie the game 3-18 to 2-21 and take it to extra-time, with the final whistle accompanied by ugly scenes as both sides clashed as they returned to the dressing rooms.

But after extra-time also finished level, it was Galway who triumphed from the spot as they scored all four of their kicks and Armagh missed two, and the Connacht champions will now take on Ulster champions Derry in the semi-final in two weeks' time.
