Armagh ladies football shooting star Aimee Mackin simply cannot stay out of the headlines.

The free-scoring forward has just landed the prestigious Ladies Gaelic Football Player of the Month award for March following a succession of stunning performances that have helped to propel her team into the Division Two semi-finals in the Lidl National League.

Mackin (21) plays for the Shane O'Neill's club and becomes the first recipient of the monthly award for 2019.

Armagh played three of their group fixtures in March and Mackin, a two-time TG4 All Star from 2015 and 2017, scored a combined total of 3-23 against Tyrone, Clare and Kerry.

Mackin collected 1-5 against the Red Hands before helping herself to 1-7 against Clare and then landing 1-9 in the Kerry fixture.

Mackin was also superb for Ulster University, Jordanstown in their march to a Gourmet Food Parlour Giles Cup title.

In the final of the competition against Waterford IT at TU Grangegorman she scored 2-11 of UUJ's 2-17 as they claimed a handsome win.

Armagh will learn the identity of their Division Two semi-final opponents next Sunday, with the meeting of Cavan and Kerry set to determine the final placings in the top four.

Mackin of course will have a key role in this game when it comes round as indeed will her talented sister Blainthid.
