Brennan leads Derry revival
John Brennan was last night formally confirmed as the new manager of Derry in succession to Damian Cassidy.
Brennan, who is currently in charge of Lavey, was one of six candidates in the running for the post and will take up the reins immediately.
Last year Brennan guided Loup to the Derry championship title, thus further cementing his impressive track record at club level. At the weekend, Lavey fell to Ballinderry in the semi-final of the domestic championship.
The Oak Leaf side have endured heartbreak in the Ulster and All-Ireland Championship spanning the past two years and it is expected that Brennan, who has an extensive knowledge of the county’s player base, will name his first panel in the near future.
Derry chairman John Keenan said: “We are happy to have John in place and now we must move forward. It is important that all units of the Association in the county weigh in behind the new manager and give him every support.”
