Clubs nominate O'Dwyer for top job

Mick O'Dwyer has been nominated for the vacant Mayo football management post.

He is one of candidates put forward by the county's clubs as a possible successor to John O'Mahony, who stepped down following a disappointing championship campaign.

Former Mayo boss John Maughan, Denis Kearney and former players Anthony McGarry and James Horan are also on the short-list.

A county board meeting is expected to take place on Monday this week to receive an update on progress on the appointment process, following an executive gathering next week.
