Cork will set out on road

The Cork minor and senior football teams are to break with tradition by travelling by bus to Croke Park for Sunday's All-Ireland finals.

With the completion of the new motorway, which has significantly reduced journey times between Dublin and Cork, the county board has decided not to continue with the practice of travelling by train.

"The footballers have been travelling to all their games this season by road. With the improvement in the road network, it makes for a far more straightforward departure to arrival at our Dublin destination," said a board spokesman.

The senior team will stay at a secret location on Saturday night before returning to their traditional Dublin base at the Burlington Hotel for the post-match banquet on Sunday evening.
