Dazzling Donaghmoyne post warning to rivals

Ulster and All-Ireland senior ladies club champions Donaghmoyne have thrown down the gauntlet to the rest of the runners in this year's competition.

Donaghmoyne made the trip to Tyrone title winners Carrickmore for the stand-out tie of the round in senior football.

Cathriona McConnell and some of her Donaghmoynne team-mates had been denied in the All-Ireland final seven days previously with Monaghan but they soon took control of matters.

McConnell and company supplied a steady run of scores as Donaghmoyne forged into a clear lead, Carrickmore left chasing the game as the Monaghan girls headed for half-time 2-7 to 0-3 in front. The St Colmcille side scored a couple of second half goals via Claire Gallagher and Etaoine O'Kane but their visitors ran out impressive 6-14 to 2-7 winners.

Antrim representatives St John's made their way into the senior semi-final after a high-scoring 5-12 to 4-6 success over Down counterparts Castlewellan.

Armagh's Carrickcruppen overcame Newtownbutler by 3-15 to 0-8 and former Ulster winners Termon notched 7-10 to 2-10 in response from Lacken as the Donegal team moved stylishly into the semi-finals.
