Dooney gets Monaghan call

By John Campbell

Monaghan manager Eamonn McEnaney hands an Ulster Championship debut to Peter Dooney now that veteran midfield ace Eoin Lennon has been ruled out of Sunday’s clash with Antrim in Clones.

With skipper Darren Hughes also ruled out, the experienced Vinney Corey is positioned at full-back with Dessie Mone at centre-half back where he will be flanked by another championship newcomer in Karl O’Connell and the more experienced Kieran Duffy.

The combative Dick Clerkin will partner Dooney at midfield while perennial threat Paul Finlay will lead the side from full-forward with Christopher McGuinness and the fit-again Conor McManus joining him in the inside line.

Stephen Gollogly (pictured), currently playing some of the best football of his career, is included at centrethreequarters with Matthew McKenna and the talented James Turley either side of him.
