Down targeting New York encounter

Beaten All-Ireland football champions Down are to seek special permission from the GAA to play a challenge match against New York during the ban on collective training.

The Mourne men are due to travel to the Big Apple next week as a reward for their exploits this year, and manager James McCartan is keen to play the Exiles at Gaelic Park.

Louth are is a similar situation as they too are heading for New York, with plans to take in a friendly game, pending permission.
