Dual star Foy set to help Down net early Championship boost

While some players encounter difficulties in fulfilling their obligations to one code, Carryduff dual star Jessica Foy continues to comfortably serve two masters.

Not only is the talented Jessica a member of the Northern Ireland ladies soccer international squad but she is also a driving force within the Down ladies gaelic football side.

It's in this latter capacity that she is hoping to underline her scoring touch again tomorrow when the Mourne outfit meet Clare in the All-Ireland Intermediate Championship Round One Group Three at Kinnegad (2pm).

Clare, who were defeated in the final at this level two years ago by Kildare, will be particularly keen to go further than they did last year when they were put out by Meath at the quarter-final stage.

Meanwhile, Derry and Antrim today face demanding assignments against Cork and Tipperary respectively in the All-Ireland Intermediate Camogie Championships.

Derry will look to the wily Grainne McGoldrick to spark their performance against a strong Cork side.

Antrim will be looking to the trio of Aileen McManus, Orla O'Hara and Katie McAleese for inspiration.
