The name ‘Niamh’ is set to play a prominent part in today’s Ulster Intermediate Camogie Championship final between Portaferry and Eglish at Tullylish (1pm).

Long-serving Portaferry and Down star Niamh Mallon will be joined in her club’s line-up by promising 16-year-old midfield player Niamh Savage as the peninsula side bids for provincial honours. Saoirse Sands, Aimee Mallon and Erin McGrattan are other key players in the side.

Eglish are not short on quality either as the Donnelly sisters Ciara, Aisling and Leanne along with Siobhan Hughes and Cathy Jordan will be key players.

Meanwhile, Derry champions Eoghan Rua (Coleraine) hope to make the most of home advantage at Portstewart today when they confront Down side Mayobridge in the Ulster Junior Camogie Championship semi-final (1pm). Eoghan Rua were put to the test by Cavan champions Laragh United at the quarter-final stage before managing to get over the line.

With experienced players in the McGoldrick sisters Grainne and Meabh along with Grace McMullan, Eoghan Rua will certainly not lack drive. In the other semi-final, Armagh side Ballymacnab will host Loughgiel.
