Earley unlikely to play on Sunday

Kildare midfielder Dermot Earley has returned to training, but has little hope of starting Sunday's All-Ireland SFC semi-final against Down.

Manager Kieran McGeeney is unlikely to risk his experienced campaigner from the start, after Earley suffered a recurrence of a knee injury in the early stages of the quarter-final win over Meath.

He has undergone surgery to clean the knee and was back training late last week.

Hugh Lynch, who deputised against Meath when Earley went off, is set to come into the starting fifteen.
