Ernemen in trouble as Meath cruise

Meath 3-15 Fermanagh 0-06

By Gareth Cauldwell

Fermanagh will have to get a result against bottom of the table Derry in Brewster Park next Sunday if they are to survive in Division Two after they shipped a heavy defeat at the hands of Meath in Navan yesterday.

Pete McGrath's side were second best all over the field against an impressive Royals outfit who took control midway through the first half to go in at the break with an eight point advantage before pushing on in the second half to secure a comfortable win.

It was Fermanagh who had started the brighter of the sides with Sean Quigley and Ryan Lyons knocking over early scores.

Meath though soon got to grips with the game and were 2-06 to 0-04 up at the break thanks to goals by Donal Lenihan and Bryan McMahon.

Meath continued to boss matters in the second half and a third goal arrived for Meath with 20 minutes to go as Lenihan punched to the net.

Lee Cullen and Eddie Courtney did knock over points for the Ernemen but Meath ran out easy victors as Tobin, McEntee and O'Sullivan rifled over points to leave it 3-15 to 0-06 at the finish.
