Fermanagh maintain 100% record
NFL Division Three: Fermanagh 2-9 - Tipperary 0-11
Fermanagh put themselves in pole position to claim one of the two promotion spots in Division Three with an impressive four point victory over Tipperary to maintain their 100% record.
The home crowd will have been delighted leaving Brewster Park after their team produced an excellent second half performance that kept Tipperary to just one score from play in the second half.
The will and desire of this Fermanagh team was possibly best encapsulated by a full length diving block from Barry Mulrone in the 68th minute to deny Daragh Dwyer an equalising goal.
Richard O'Callaghan produced a splendid display at centre field with the McCusker brothers, Declan and Paul, also became more influential.
Ruairi Corrigan's slide rule ball released Paul McCusker in behind the defence and a neat one-two with Sean Quigley saw McCusker palm the ball to the net to give Fermanagh a three point lead with nine minutes left to play.
Conor Sweeney kept the visitors in touch with frees but Fermanagh were in no mood to relinquish their grip on proceedings.
The opening 20 minutes saw the visitors well on top and they were soon 0-04 to 0-01 ahead. But Pete McGrath's men weathered the storm and kept in touch.
And when Declan McCusker drilled a crossfield ball to the back post Quigley collected to coolly slot home to the corner to give Fermanagh a 1-03 to 0-05 lead.
The second half was dominated by the home side who now sit on top of the table alongside Armagh who they visit next Saturday evening.
