Garrycastle retain Flanagan Cup

Garrycastle won their third successive Westmeath SFC title with a 1-9 to 0-9 win over Mullingar Shamrocks.

They had to come from behind to get the better of a determined Shamrocks outfit at Cusack Park.

Points from Dessie Dolan, Doran Harte and Seanie O'Donoghue sealed the win, and set up a Leinster Championship clash with Longford Slashers.

James Duignan hit the only goal of the game early on for Garrycastle, but it was Mullingar who led by three points at half-time, thanks to scores from Darragh Daly and Michael Curley and Simon Quinn.

But the experienced Garrycastle men came good in the final stages to retain the Flanagan Cup.
