Harte dismisses call for change

Tyrone manager Mickey Harte has dismissed calls for the introduction of 13-a-side teams to inter-county football, insisting the game is just fine as it is.

He argues that a reduction in numbers will not reduce the incidence of crowding around the midfield area.

"Removing a player from the full-back and full-forward line on each team will not remove the phenomenon of the modern game," he said.

"A study of the placement of players on the field will clearly show that it is not the numbers on the playing area that causes the appearance of crowding, rather the deployment of bodies in the central channel of the field."
