Hot-shot Forde can help Tipp the scales in his side's favour

By John Campbell

Tipperary could hardly be in better tune than they are right now to face Kilkenny in tomorrow's Allianz League Hurling Final at Nowlan Park, Kilkenny (3.30).

Their opponents may have home advantage but for the most part this term Tipperary's consistency has been complemented by surging ambition and in Jason Forde they have the hottest marksman in the country.

But while Forde's prodigious scoring feats have helped to underpin Tipperary's success, they are far from being a one-trick pony.

They will need to be on their toes tomorrow, though.

Kilkenny manager Brian Cody has burst the Tipperary bubble on big occasions in the past and clearly feels he can do so again.

Cody has watched a number of young guns distinguish themselves in his side and is keen to see them come to maturity as quickly as possible.

While Kilkenny undoubtedly possess pace and power in abundance, they will be tested to the full by a Tipperary side keen to make a big statement.

Indeed, the destination of the league title could perhaps have a bearing on just who will win what promises to be a fiercely-contested All-Ireland Championship.
