Inconsistent Saffrons out to stay in promotion mix

From virtual no-hopers to promotion candidates. Antrim's fluctuating fortunes in Division Four of the Allianz Football League continue to perplex their supporters, team management and, if truth be told, the players.

A win over Waterford tomorrow coupled with favourable results from their viewpoint for pacesetters Offaly and Longford could see Frank Fitzsimmons' side nose into the frame for a place in Division Three.

Last weekend's 1-12 to 1-8 win over London was hard-earned and the feeling that the side is capable of much better was in evidence afterwards.

"We did not get off on the right foot by drawing with Carlow and then losing to Longford but we have made up a bit of ground since then and hopefully we can continue in a winning groove," says long-serving defender Tony Scullion (pictured).

"We have a lot of good individuals but on some days we don't gel. If we can get over Waterford, there will only be two games left to play and we want to try and make sure that we stay in the mix for going up."
