Kelly guides Cork to victory

Paddy Kelly smacked in a hat-trick of goals as Cork overwhelmed Down with a 4-11 to 0-10 NFL Division One win at Pairc Ui Chaoimh.

Donncha O'Connor netted a first half penalty on his way to a 1-4 tally, and the Rebels led by 3-5 to 0-5 at the halfway stage.

Aidan Carr tried to keep Down in touch with five points, but their challenge was killed off by Kelly's third strike.

Laois scored a superb 2-9 to 2-6 victory over Donegal at Letterkenny, where Paul Cahillane netted a first half penalty and Padraig Clancy gabbed a second goal after the break.

The Leinster side, with Ross Munnelly and David Conway hitting three points each, were 11 points ahead with 10 minutes to play, before Donegal pulled back late goals through Anthony Thompson and Neil Gallagher.

In Division Two Meath overwhelmed defeated by 0-17 to 0-5, with Stephen Bray hitting five points and Graham Reilly scoring two.

Paul Finlay was in sparkling form as Monaghan defeated Kildare by 0-17 to 0-12 at Clones, while Tyrone scored a resounding 2-15 to 0-9 win in the big Ulster derby against Derry.

Mickey Murphy punched home a 26th minute goal and Peter Harte netted a 51st minute penalty. Derry played the last quarter with 14 men, following Patsy Bradley's second booking.
