Kildare claim final spot

Kildare qualified for the O'Byrne Cup final with a 0-12 to 0-8 win over Westmeath.

A couple of early scores from Fionn Dowling set the Lilywhites on their way, but three Denis Glennon points helped Westmeath take a 0-6 to 0-4 lead into the half-time interval.

Dowling continued to hit the target after the break, while Ger Egan was on target for the Lake county.

But Kildare grew in confidence in the closing stages, and Dowling was content to shoot for a point with a late penalty.
