Kildare dump out Meath

Meath became the fourth provincial champion to crash out of the All-Ireland SFC race, soundly beaten by 2-17 to 1-12 by a resurgent Kildare at Croke Park.

A Cian Ward penalty goal helped Meath into a six points lead, but despite the early loss of Dermot Earley through injury, Kildare hit back with goals from James Kavanagh and Alan Smith.

The Royals led by 1-9 to 2-5 at the break, but the Lilywhites blossomed after the break, Johnny Doyle bringing his tally to eight points and Eoghan O'Flaherty hitting five.
