Kildare hurlers into last four

The hurlers of Kildare powered through to the Christy Ring Cup semi-finals with a 4-18 to 1-13 victory over Derry at Banagher.

Early goals from David Harney, Martin Fitzgerald and Tony Murphy laid the foundations for the Lilywhites, and there was no way back for the Ulstermen when Fitzgerald scored his second.

Down also moved into the last four with a 1-18 to 1-7 win over Meath at Ballycran.

Paul Braniff scored their goal, and although Meath responded with a Nickey Cole goal, they were unable to contain a potent Down attack.

Louth and Fingal qualified for the quarter-fuinals of the Nicky Rackard Cup.

Two Diarmuid Murphy goals helped Louth to a 3-9 to 1-14 win over Roscommon, while Andrew Richardson and Aodhan McEnerney were the goalscorers in Fingal's 3-19 to 0-11 defeat of Sligo.

In the Lory Meagher Cup, there were quarter-final wins for South Down and Warwickshire.
