Lyng calls it a day

Kilkenny midfielder Derek Lyng has retired from inter-county hurling.

Lyng (32) won six All-Ireland medals, nine Leinster championships, four National Leagues, four Inter-provincial championships during a decorated career. He was also honoured with two All-Star awards.

He is the first member of Cats' four-in-a-row winning team to retire. He will continue to line out for his club Emeralds.
