MacRory Cup: Draw drama earns St Pat's and Abbey semi replay

SAINT Patrick's Academy Dungannon and Abbey CBS have to do it all over again to see who will reach the Danske Bank MacRory Cup semi-finals after they could not be separated in a cracking encounter at the Athletic Grounds last night.

The Newry lads looked the better side early on with Ryan Treanor and Conor Doyle both scoring points but Dungannon hit back with an opportunist goal from defender Conor McCabe.

Abbey then got a goal from midfielder Niall Rafferty and when Eoin McParland, Conor McCoy, Doyle and Treanor got points they led 1-9 to 1-4 at the interval.

Within three minutes of the restart though the Tyrone lads were level thanks to two fine points from Tiarnan Donnelly and a Ruairi McGlone goal. Donnelly and Donagh McAleenan exchanged points as did Colm Byrne and Treanor before the Academy took control.

Substitute Fintan McClure scored twice with fellow replacement Stephen McGrath also on target and with only a minute of normal time left to play the Academy led 2-13 to 1-12. But Abbey CBS weren't finished yet.

Conor McCoy stabbed the ball to the net to set up a thrilling finish. In injury time Doyle converted the free to force a replay.
