McGrath retires from hurling

Waterford star Ken McGrath has retired from inter-county hurling.

McGrath (33) established himself as one of the game's top defenders during a 15-year career with the Deise.

Although he had been troubled by injury in recent seasons, his decision to quit comes as a shock to Waterford supporters.

He did play in the NHL in recent weeks, but has informed manager Davy Fitzgerald that he will no longer be available, and that his retirement is effective immediately.
