Mickey Harte adds new options

Following a series of trials, Tyrone manager Mickey Harte has added nine names to his panel for the defence of the McKenna Cup next month.

With established names such as Sean Cavanagh, Conor Gormley and Stephen O'Neill all taking a well earned rest while others are on the injured list, it's a chance for the newcomers to stake a place in the squad ahead of the beginning of the National League campaign.

Two players make a return to the panel, while County champions Clonoe have two included as well. Niall McKenna, who won All-Ireland minor and Hogan Cup medals in 2008, is included again, while Peter Hughes is the second player to earn a recall.

Hughes was instrumental in his club Eskra winning the Tyrone Intermediate championship this season for the first time.

PJ Lavery and Danny McNulty were key figures as Clonoe won the O'Neill Cup for the eighth time in their history this season, both players finding the net in their final win over Carrickmore.

Lavery is a superb attacking wing back who used to play soccer for Dungannon Swifts.

Shay McGuigan becomes the latest member of the famous Ardboe family to feature for Tyrone seniors, following in the footsteps of his father Frank as well as older siblings Frank, Brian and Tommy.

Eglish's Emmett McKenna joins a panel that includes his brother Ryan with Dungannon's Patrick Quinn, Omagh's Hugh Gallagher and Derrytresk's Kevin Campbell all set to get an opportunity.
