Naughton pays tribute to players

Donegal manager Michael Naughton has hailed the achievements of his players following their triumph over Waterford in the All-Ireland Intermediate ladies football championship final.

"Earlier on this year, Donegal won their first ever National League title, then we won an Ulster title and now we did the triple. I think we're the first team ever in Donegal to win three titles and that's some achievement," he said.

"Fair dues to Waterford, they put up one hell of a game and we know they weren't going to be easy.

"Our girls had the belief that they weren't going to give up and we kept fighting to the end and we did and I'm just over the moon for them.

"Goals win games and Yvonne (McMonagle) got two top-drawer goals and maybe we should have had another one or two."
