O Flatharta gets Galway top job

Tomas O Flatharta has been appointed as Galway's new football manager.

The Kerry native, who succeeds Armagh man Joe Kernan, is the second successive outsider to be appointed to the post.

O Flatharta, who has been given a three-year term by the county board, was previously manager of Westmeath.

Galway minor manager Gerry Fahy - along with Matt Duggan and Pete Warren - was also interviewed for the post.
