Eamonn O'Brien has been sensationally ousted as Meath football manager by the county's clubs.
The management committee had recommended his reappointment for a third year, but the clubs voted 32-29 against his ratification.
The removal comes as a huge surprise, given that O'Brien guided the Royals to a Leinster SFC title this season. He also steered Meath to a surprise All-Ireland football semi-final appearance in his first season in charge.
The vote was carried and the county board are now seeking nominations for the position.
