St Enda's hurlers secured the Ulster Intermediate title yesterday with a remarkable shoot-out victory over Eoghan Ruadh, Dungannon in Celtic Park yesterday.

The Glengormley side battled back from a seven-point half-time deficit to level the game.

Three Damien Casey points helped Dungannon retake the lead in the first period of extra-time, but the Tyrone ace had to convert a late free to bring it to a shoot-out after St Enda's had taken the lead through John McGoldrick (two), Ruairi Donaghy and Killian Jennings.

In a bizarre twist, just one of the nine penalties were converted with skipper Cormac Ross scoring his side's first penalty after Casey saw his effort saved by Martin Curren.

The St Enda's shot-stopper saved penalties from Tiernan Morgan, Conor McNally, and Lorcan Devlin while Branan Molloy's effort flew over the bar.

Philly Curran, McGoldrick and Matthew O'Hare saw their efforts stopped by John Devlin, but it was the Antrim champions who were left to celebrate.

Dungannon landed the opening two points via Terry McIntosh and Casey, while McGoldrick opened his side's account from a 65 on five minutes.

Molloy restored Dungannon's two-point advantage, but they suffered a setback when McGoldrick struck for the first goal.

Midfielder Ruairi Donaghy added another to move St Enda's 1-2 to 0-3 ahead on 10 minutes, but within two minutes they were back level after back-to-back points from Casey.

Dungannon assumed control of proceedings with two goals in four minutes.

If Dungannon bossed the first half, the second belonged to St Enda's. The free-taking prowess of McGoldrick was in evidence.

Indeed, it was a long-range free from McGoldrick which levelled the game on 56 minutes, but Tiernan Morgan quickly restored Dungannon's lead.

However, McGoldrick's second point from play tied the game at 2-14 and forced extra-time before the dramatic shoot-out.
