St Pat's Maghera seal Croker date in bid to defend Hogan Cup

St Pat's Maghera are Croke Park bound again after seeing off the challenge of Coláiste Eoin at Pairc Esler in Newry on Saturday afternoon to book their place in the Hogan Cup final.

The holders led 1-5 to 0-4 at half time and when they got the opening three points of the second period the writing was on the wall for their Dublin opponents.

Danny Tallon got the only goal of the game after 12 minutes when he coolly converted a penalty after the rampaging Conor Glass had been pulled down.

Rian MacGiolla Bríde kicked three points for the challengers but at the other end of the field Maghera had the best player on show as Conor Convery gave a master class on his way to a personal tally of 0-9.

Meanwhile, St.Eunan's failed to make it an Ulster double as they lost out to Scoil Aodhain from Dublin in the All-Ireland "B" semi-final in Inniskeen.

A couple of Sean Hume frees put the Donegal lads into an early lead but they trailed 0-6 to 0-3 at the break. Darragh McDaid scored three times for St.Eunan's in the second half but they lost 0-11 to 0-7.

SCORERS: St.Pat's Maghera: C Convery 0-9 (2f), D Tallon 1-0 pen, P McAtamney 0-2 (2f), C Mulholland 0-2, P Hagan 0-1.

Coláiste Eoin: C Ó Ceallacháin 0-5 (3f), R MacGiolla Bríde 0-3.
