Tipp off the mark

All-Ireland champions Tipperary picked up their first league points of the season with a 1-20 to 0-18 win over Waterford.

They led by 1-12 to 0-10 at half-time, with Paul Kelly netting the only goal of the game in the 14th minute.

Richie Foley's accuracy kept Waterford in the hunt, but a string of excellent points from Noel McGrath ensured that Tipp were always in control.

The Deise had two playes sent off - Shane O'Sullivan and goalkeeper Gearoid Ryan, but nevertheless made Tipperary work hard for the Division One points.
