Tyrone build on dream start to triumph
Ulster U-21 Championship
Fermanagh 1-3 Tyrone 1-14: Tyrone booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Ulster U21 Championship thanks to a comfortable win over Fermanagh at Brewster Park in Enniskillen.
The visitors got off to an unbelievable start when a five-man move ended with full forward Conor McAliskey blasting the ball to the Fermanagh net with only 15 seconds gone on the clock.
Ryan Lyons responded with a Fermanagh point but that was the only score for the home side in the opening period as Tyrone took complete control.
Darren McCurry knocked over a couple of frees with defender Tiarnan McCann and Stefan Tierney on target by the end of the opening quarter as well.
The Ernesiders struggled to make any impact against a tight marking Red Hands defence and by half time it was 1-8 to 0-1 after Niall Sludden, Thomas Canavan and Ronan O’Neill all found their range.
Fermanagh started the second half on top but kicked four wides in a row and it was Tyrone who opened the scoring through Peter Mallon.
Bryan Owens and Sean Quigley scored Fermanagh points but Tyrone responded through substitute John McCullagh and McAliskey before Ruairi Corrigan grabbed a consolation goal very late on.
