Watson nets hat-trick in title triumph

Liam Watson inspired Loughgiel to their second All-Ireland Club SHC title with a spectacular hat-trick at Croke Park.

The Antrim star tore the Coolderry defence to shreds with a wonderful display which saw him pick off a 3-7 tally as the Shamrocks bridged a 29-year gap from their only previous triumph, defeating Coolderry by 4-13 to 0-17.

Loughgiel's four goals all came in the first half, the first from Shay Casey, giving them a nine points lead that the Offaly men were unable to overhaul.

Samien Murray contributed eight points for Coolderry, all from frees, but the Offaly side, appearing in their first final, did not have enough firepower to rescue their dream.
