Gerry O'Hare delighted as Oriel lift inter-zone title


Oriel's Gerry O'Hare saluted his team after they retained the IIBA Men's inter-zone title at Ballybrakes Community Stadium on Saturday.

The holders turned in a fantastic second half performance to totally blitz a Western side that held a 13 shots lead at the break.

"We played some brilliant bowls," said O'Hare, whose team have now had their hands on the Boomer Cup on three occasions.

"We were a little bit sluggish in the first half.

"Western were certainly up for it and they fully deserved their lead.

"But it was all one way traffic after the interval.

"We really went through the gears and really dominated the game. We just got better and better as the match progressed."

Meanwhile, Larne defeated Donegal 61-49 to win the IIBA Shield at the Blue Circle Club.
