Laura Granted her Blake Cup wish

Lisburn's Laura Grant is the new Lancome Irish Girls' Close champion.

She lifted the Blake Cup at the weekend after defeating Amy Farrell from the Moate club in Westmeath three and two in the final.

Laura was one up through four but Farrell birdied the fifth to bring the match back to all square.

By the turn, though, Laura was two up and extended that lead to three by the 13th. And then another win on the 16th was enough to secure the title.

Meanwhile, newly crowned North of Ireland Amateur Open champion Alan Dunbar will be back into action this week in the Boys Interprovincal Championship in Ballinrobe, although he misses the first match against Connacht.

Ulster v Connacht foursomes: Chris Selfridge & Matthew McKnight v Sean Cannon & Darragh O’Sullivan; Dermot McElroy & Cormac Sharvin v David Byrne & Hugh Walsh; Jamie Richardson & Ryan McKinstry v Sean Flanagan & Enda Craddock.

Singles: Chris Selfridge v Daire Higgins; Dermot McElroy v Sean Flanagan; Matthew McKnight v Darragh O’Sullivan; Cormac Sharvin v David Byrne; Adam Brown v Enda Craddock; Jamie Richardson v Sean Cannon; Ryan McKinstry v Hugh Walsh
