Ulster hope Madden bows out to West of Ireland winner Brazill

By Paul Kelly

Robert Brazill survived a test of stamina and nerve to win the West of Ireland Championship at Co Sligo yesterday.

The 21-year-old from Naas GC showed his mettle on the 18th green, holing from 10 feet for a one-hole victory against Irish international Alex Gleeson (Castle).

Ulster hope, Jack Madden (Royal Portrush), was edged out in the last four by Brazill 2&1.

Over at Ardglass GC, Sean McLoughlin (Co Sligo) fired a level par 68 in challenging wet conditions to win the Ulster U14 Championship.

Balmoral's Fionn Dobbin was the best of the Ulster contingent carding a seven over par 75.
