McDowell keeps pace with Woods

Graeme McDowell kept pace with Tiger Woods but he still remains four shots off the pace at the Chevron World Challenge in California.

Woods is on course for his first title of 2010 as made three straight birdies early on and then added one more on the 18th to hold his advantage over McDowell, who also went round in 68.

Woods is on 17 under for the tournament, with McDowell on 13 under.

McDowell made five birdies but also had a bogey, on the seventh, on his scorecard.

Woods is leading a tournament for the first time since he won last year's Australian Masters.

Sunday looks like being a straight fight between Woods and McDowell, with Paul Casey eight shots behind Woods in third place on nine under.

Luke Donald and Rory McIlroy both had disappointing rounds of 73 - with McIlroy suffering double bogeys on both the ninth and 18th holes - and they are tied for fourth along with Hunter Mahan and Sean O'Hair.

Most struggled on the course, with Stewart Cink the only other man to match Woods and McDowell with a round of 68, but he is down in a tie for 10th place.
