NI pair bidding to make Curtis Cup grade
Northern Ireland duo Olivia Mehaffey and Annabel Wilson have both been named in Great Britain and Ireland's initial panel of 10 for next year's Curtis Cup.
The 41st instalment of the historic match between GB&I and their United States counterparts takes place on June 12-14 at Conwy Golf Club in Wales.
Mehaffey, the highest-ranked member of the squad at No.19 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, is aiming to make her third Curtis Cup appearance.
The Tandragee golfer, currently on a scholarship at Arizona State University, will bring experience to the panel after winning 3.5 points in her Curtis Cup debut back in 2016 and was the stand-out player for her side last year.
Aiming for a Curtis Cup debut is reigning Irish Women's Close champion Wilson.
The Lurgan golfer takes up a scholarship at UCLA this month and would come highly rated into the squad.
Also in contention for the 2020 team are Mehaffey's team mates from 2018, Shannon McWilliam, Annabell Fuller and Lily May Humphreys, who has enjoyed an excellent 2019, winning the Annika Invitational Europe, Irish Women's Open and Welsh Ladies' Open stroke play championships.
Emily Toy, the Women's Amateur Champion, has been named in the initial squad, which features a further four potential debutants including Hannah Darling, the Scottish Girls' Open champion, Hazel MacGarvie, Julie McCarthy and Isobel Wardle.
