Niall Horan will present the prize for the Junior NI Open next weekend.

The Galgorm Resort & Spa NI Open is now just one week away and with it comes the opportunity to meet Niall Horan.

The One Direction star and Modest! Golf director will be at Galgorm Castle on Sunday to present the prize for the Junior NI Open. And anyone can enter.

Well, providing you're aged between six and 13, that is.  There is no need to book, simply head on over to the Interactive Zone during the main tournament to register and pick up your scorecard before hitting the pitch and putt course.

The team at Galgorm will supply the golf clubs and balls and kids can enter as many times as they like. The competition runs from Thursday to Sunday. Big kids like mum and dad can play too but entering the competition is a step too far - no matter how much they'd like to meet Niall.

“This is a great introduction to the overall offering at the NI Open and an excellent way for all the family to try golf and have a bit of fun, especially if they haven’t played before,” explained Ross Oliver, NI Open Event Manager.

“We have four categories; 6-9 boys and girls and 10-13 for boys and girls with loads of great goodies and prizes to be won. The kids can get their game face on too for their chance to win and receive the prize from Modest! Golf’s Niall Horan when the winners will be announced at 2pm on the final day.”

Tournament week at the Northern Ireland Open has become so much more than just a golf event; there’s high fashion to consider, family fairy trails, interactive zones, the NI Open village but perhaps most important of all there is a brand new Junior NI Open to be entered.

The Interactive Zone will be the perfect place to take some time away from the fairways and try some golf in the Fun Golf Area or take free lessons with the PGA team in the CGI Swingzone. The pitch and putt course and Himalayas Putting Green (scaled replica of the same feature at the Home of Golf in St Andrews) are a must for all the family.

The Galgorm Castle Fairy Trail also starts out from the Interactive Zone (get your Fairy pack in the White Cottage) and takes visitors on a magical tour of the historic estate with plenty of fun along the way.

Spectators can enjoy another hub of activity at the Harry Corry sponsored NI Open Village where the 19th Hole Bar is situated as well as the Ivory Pavilion’s Wine and Champagne Bar. A brand-new Galgorm Resort & Spa Gin Fest is also taking place over the weekend and is sure to be a hit for all gin aficionados, overlooking the 18th green.

Day one of the NI Open is ‘Fairies, Families and Fun’ before setting up for ‘Ladies’ Day’ on Friday with a dedicated fashion show to take place in the NI Open Village along with a range of exhibitors and retailers.

All this and barely a mention of the new Shootout Sunday format at the best attended tournament on the European Challenge Tour’s international schedule where some of the leading players from across Europe will be competing for the top prize.

Shootout Sunday will provide plenty of excitement for players and spectators as the new six-hole knockout format will conclude at the 18th green, surrounded by the grandstands and is the perfect opportunity for spectators to cheer on their favourite players.

One Direction and solo star Horan, along with the Modest! team, will be at Galgorm Castle during tournament week, while he and fellow Modest! director Mark McDonnell will present the winner with the NI Open trophy on Sunday evening.

The NI Open is a week-long festival of golf for all the family and entry is FREE, simply register for your tickets online at
