Paul Cutler eyes Euro joy

Paul Cutler will attempt to erase the memory of a few disappointing performances this season by gearing up for next week's Home Internationals with a stirring display in the European Amateur Championship, which begins today in Finland.

The Portstewart man is considered one of Ulster's most talented golfers — he reached the quarter-finals of the Amateur Championship at Muirfield and would have been in the European team for the Bonallack Trophy match in India if the Icelandic ash cloud had not intervened.

Meanwhile Ireland grabbed the early initiative in the Boys Home International Championship over the Southerness course in Scotland yesterday, overwhelming the hosts 12-3 with a confident opening performance.
