Rory McIlroy confirms Scottish Open spot in preparation for Open Championship

Rory McIlroy will tee it up three weeks in a row across the UK after he confirmed his place at July's Scottish Open.

In a reshuffled European Tour schedule, the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open will this year be hosted just a week before the Scottish Open which, as has traditionally been the case, falls on the weekend directly before the Open Championship.

This year's Scottish Open will be played at Dundonald Links before the world's top players descend on Royal Birkdale for the 146th Open.

Rory will be playing in the Scottish tournament for the first time since 2014 as he looks to get back to peak performance after his rib injury.

"I'm going to play (the) Scottish, so I'm going to play Irish (Portstewart), Scottish and The Open, which is a great links run," he told the BBC.

"I don't know much about Dundonald. I know it's close to Troon. That's really about it. I know I can drive there. Having to get the boat from Larne to Troon will be fine."

McIlroy is, of course, currently preparing for this week's US Open at Erin Hills.
