Stephanie Meadow very close to securing Ladies' PGA Tour card

Stephanie Meadow remains right on course to earn her Ladies' PGA card in America after the third round of the Qualifying School in Florida.

The Ulster woman remains well-placed inside the top ten with two rounds to go after her level par 72 at the Jones course in her third round yesterday.

That left her in a tie for seventh place, five shots off the lead, but still three clear of the group tied for 24th place.

It was another battling round on the Jones course after her second round 66 at the neighbouring Hills course, the scene of one of her college victories whilst she was at university in Alabama.

She will look forward to returning there today as she seeks to cement her playing rights in America for next season at the first time of asking.

After the drama of her front nine on Thursday when she hit four birdies in a row, it was a much more sedate run yesterday as she reached the turn in level par thanks to nine straight pars.

She picked up a birdie at the tenth but then proceeded to drop shots at both the next two holes.

At that stage things could have unravelled, but she made pars all the way to the 18th and then picked up a birdie at the last for a level par round of 72.

Korea's Ha Na Jang leads the way at 11 under, three ahead of the chasing pack.
