The 148th Open Championship was a sell out at Royal Portrush and the fans have been praised from on high.
Tiger Woods gave the supporters a huge backing, pointing out how respectful they were as he missed the cut despite an improved second round.
The atmosphere really picked up when Rory McIlroy came within a shot of making the cut after a second round 65.
And, while it hadn't seemed possible, it was lifted another notch as Offaly's Shane Lowry carded the best round of the week, an eight under par 63, on Saturday to take a four shot lead.
He backed the 'incredible' fans, while his partner in the final group Tommy Fleetwood said the atmosphere was akin to a Ryder Cup.
