Grey-Thompson tackles Sports & Law conference

By Adam McKendry

Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson has been named as the keynote speaker at this year's Sports and Law Conference, taking place at Law Society House in Belfast today.

The 13-time gold medal Paralympian, a well-known advocate for equality in sports in the House of Lords, will address the conference which this year has the theme of 'Duty of Care to Athletes and mental health in sport'.

The conference brings together leading sports personnel as well as high-ranking members of the law profession who will discuss various topics currently in the news.

This will be the sixth year of the conference, and other high-profile names speaking at the event include Paralympian Michael McKillop and former Ulster Rugby player Jan Cunningham.

"I am delighted to have been invited to speak at the sixth Annual Sports and Law Conference on an issue which I am passionate about," Baroness Grey-Thompson said.

"The sector is arguably under more scrutiny than ever before. We must not leave athletes broken at the end of their careers."
