Bann and Garvey set for Cup duel
Ulster rivals Banbridge and Lisnagarvey will meet in the stand-out tie in the early stages of the Irish Senior Cup after the draw was made yesterday in Dublin.
The two EY Irish Hockey League sides will face-off in the second round at Havelock Park as the record 23-time winners Garvey begin their bid to go one better than last season when they reached the final, only to go down 1-0 to Three Rock Rovers in Dublin.
The tournament kicks off with five first round ties on October 5, with Ulster Premier League champions Instonians up against IHL side Monkstown at Shaw's Bridge in the pick of the early ties.
Annadale must travel to Dublin to face UCD, while Mossley are also on the road against Dublin University.
In the second round, Cookstown, who suffered relegation from the IHL last season, have home advantage against either Bandon or Railway Union, while current holders Three Rock host YMCA.
In the women's Irish Senior Cup, meanwhile, all the Ulster teams have received byes into the second round, in which the plum tie is the meeting of IHL rivals Loreto and Belfast Harlequins.
Last season's IHL champions Pegasus have a tricky tie away to Ballymoney, while Ulster Elks entertain Pembroke Wanderers or holders Cork Harlequins.
