Ballyclare High 0 Lurrgan College 3: There seems to be no stopping Lurgan College, as they reached their fourth successive Belfast Telegraph Senior Schools' Cup final at Lisnagarvey yesterday.

Judith McVicker's girls saw off Ballyclare High in the semi-final and so gained revenge for the defeat in the 2012 decider.

Once Julie Morrow put Lurgan ahead in the 20th minute, you could sense there was no way back for Ballyclare, and that's the way it turned out with Kathryn Edgar and Samantha Bann adding to the scoreline.

It means Lurgan are still in line to retain their Ulster trophy and perhaps go on to defend their all-Ireland Kate Russell schoolgirls' title, but coach McVicker insists it remains one step at a time.

Ballyclare perhaps felt unfortunate, for there were numerous periods in the game when it was Michelle Rainey's girls who were applying the pressure.

But their attack couldn't find a way past Hannah Grieve at the heart of the defence or goalkeeper Naomi Costley and duly paid the price at the other end where the Lurgan attack were quite clinical.

It was Pegasus defender Grieve who helped break the deadlock and effectively put Lurgan in charge. Her penalty corner was struck with venom and injector Julie Morrow got over to the post to deflect the ball home.

Ballyclare tried to hit back quickly but couldn't prise open the Lurgan defence and then had a let-off at the other end when Alex Hurst fired a shot on the reverse just wide of the target.

But Ballyclare's game was effectively over when they were hit on the break three minutes from the interval. Kathryn Edgar surged through into the circle and 'keeper Stephanie McIlroy had no chance of stopping the well-struck shot.

More Ballyclare pressure in the second period failed to produce the much-needed goal and it was left to Samantha Bann to wrap things up for the holders with their third goal, a sweet shot on the reverse stick.

Skipper Alex Graham tried hard to lift the Ballyclare girls and with Emma Wilson urging them forward there was hope to at least pull a goal back, but instead there were gaps appearing at the back and Serena Hamilton almost added a fourth, only to see her shot whistle wide.
