Fulton ponders his line-up for Germans

By Graham Hamilton

Ireland coach Craig Fulton will name his squad early this week for the two games coming up against world number five Germany in Dublin.

Fulton further assessed his players at the weekend's training camp and will deliberate before announcing those to face the Germans on Friday and Saturday at Pembroke's Serpentine Avenue ground.

The games are being used as preparation for the World Cup finals later in the year, as are further fixtures over the summer against France, the USA, Germany and Argentina.

Meanwhile, Ulster Juniors missed out on the inter-provincial title yesterday when they lost 3-1 to eventual winners Munster and drew 2-2 with Leinster after being two up with two minutes to play.

They had been in pole position after Saturday's win and draw against the same opposition but had to settle for runners up.

There were two hat-tricks in the McClements Cup final at Stormont's Playball on Saturday when Ballynahinch beat Banbridge III in a shoot-out after a thrilling 5-5 draw.

William Agnew kept up his good record with a treble for the Hinch but Ross McCandless also bagged three as Bann came from behind to force the shoot-out with a last minute equaliser.

Ballynahinch's other marksman was Andy McIlwaine with two while Gary Dean and Neil Wilson completed Bann's scoring.

Junior inter-provincials (Cork): Saturday: Leinster 1 Munster 6; Ulster 2 Munster 1; Leinster 2 Ulster 2

Yesterday: Munster 3 Ulster 1; Leinster 2 Ulster 2

McClements Cup final: Ballynahinch 5 (W Edgar 3, A McIlwaine 2) Banbridge III 5 (R McCandless 3, G Dean, N Wilson) Ballynahinch won 3-1 in shoot-out.

Junior Shield final: Queen's II 4 Mossley II 1

Minor Cup final: Raphoe III 3 PSNI 4
