Fulton ready to juggle panel for Pakistan visit to NI

By Graham Hamilton

Irish men's coach Craig Fulton hopes to name his squad later today for the three games against hockey powerhouse Pakistan at Lisnagarvey this week, following a training camp at Bisham Abbey.

Fulton has a lot to think about, with four more games coming up in the Hamburg Masters later this month, followed by the final World Cup qualifier in Johannesburg in July and the Europeans in August. Not all of his squad are available for the entire hectic summer schedule, particularly those in full-time employment.

There is good news and bad news for him, though, as he assesses his extended squad.

The good news is that Ulsterman John Jackson, who took an international break after the Rio Olympics, is back in the frame and the Bath Buccaneers defender impressed in the weekend's two training games, which were uncapped, against Great Britain.

Two others - Alan Sothern and Kirk Shimmins - are also set to rejoin the training panel, but the bad news, unfortunately, is that Lisnagarvey's Paul Gleghorne and Michael Robson are in the treatment room trying to shake off worrying injuries.
